Following on from explosive visuals for ‘BMT’ which set the streets alight just weeks ago, North West London rapper/songwriter Casscade re-emerged with banging new audio track ‘Favourite Girl’. Released on Valentines Day, the song’s hybrid sound is a fusion of Hip Hop, Trap, R&B. Casscade storms on to the track with lyrics spat with conviction, as he explores a past “situation-ship” that didn’t become a real thing yet was the only girl who checked for him and admired his music. On the other hand, Casscade is surrounded by women who only want to be around him because he’s on the rise. He is aware of the situation and whilst he may take advantage of that, he doesn’t consider one of them his “Favourite Girl”.
The song samples Janet Jackson’s old school R&B jam ‘I Get Lonely’, remixed in to a smooth R&B Trap banger. The beat transitions in to a West Coast style R&B/Hip Hop beat on the chorus, switching up in to a jiggy beat pattern towards the end. Once again, Casscade displays his versatility and diversity in sound and concept, and the quality of music is evident, from the production to the rapping, flows and bars, and melodic capabilities. Casscade’s progress in the last year or so is astounding, and before long his name will be on the tip of everyone’s tongue.
