Lady Shocker releases some new music as part of her new EP “Taking The P”. The female mc delivers eleven forceful grime and trap bangers, such as ‘Nothing’, featuring aggressive and rowdy lyrics from her lyrically attacking her rivals. ‘Slippin Like Dat’ is a depiction of Lady Shocker’s lifestyle and what and how her means of getting paid is. Lady Shocker duppys a grime refix of Wiley’s Wot U Call It produced by Humple Hapz, delivering a catchy chorus that emphasizes that she is continuously on top of her game lyrically and musically. Both Shocker and Dramah go in on this fire tune with rapid flows. ‘Banta Riddim’ by Shocker and Dramah is a unique concept featuring back to back lyrics between the two that is humorous and features the them firing quick and rapid cusses at each other regarding their choice of women. ‘Change’ features deep lyricism from Shocker who rhymes about the path she has took in life, assessing whether it was the right way and stating she needs and has made changes. ‘Letter To Terry’ is yet another moving track and a dedication to her late friend Terry. Lady Shocker takes to a remix of Mr Probz’ Waves, produced by Westy, talking about the scramble and mess that is her mind and life in general, using music as a way to sort out her plans and express her thoughts and feelings. ‘I Need You’ is a pacey grime tune on which Lady Shocker is forward about her sexuality and rhymes about a scenario in which she meets a girl she likes. This one song that highlights her story telling skills.
Overall, this EP shows that lyrically, Lady Shocker is point and firing on all cylinders, and behind that hard exterior, the songs about a trap lifestyle or the bravado as she attacks other mc’s with sharp-tongued lyricism, there are the ones where she expresses her feelings on life’s hardships or relationships.
