American Hip Hop artist Premo F Farrelly just recently dropped the second installment in The Red Tape series via Datpiff, produced by Phil Cassidy and Marswell AKA The Red Shark Gang and recorded and mix by Z at FS Studio. The EP has a smooth West Coast gangsta rap vibe to it, with Premo kicking it off with the intro featuring RAYNIQUEperry on a chilled beat, warming up with an array of flows and sharp lyricism containing a few nice punchlines. Premo kicks rhymes about the opposite sex, his personal life, hustling and music all within the intro. ‘FLW’ is an ambient wavy track that explores Premo’s habits of drinking and smoking, yet with a sinister twist that he could be creeping on his enemies.
Premo is joined by Redro Killson on ‘Poppin’, a bouncy and atmospheric track with nice touch from Redro Killson on the chorus, as Premo rhymes about how he gets it popping every night, whether it is drinking a bottle of henny or riding around and repping for the city. Premo’s flows sit comfortably, dipping and weaving on the beat. Z from Brainsick also features on the last track ‘How High Kan You Take Me’, another smooth production with an ambient vibe, on which Premo and Z rhyme about their experiences of intoxication. Their descriptive lyricism puts you right in the moment, definitely leaving you feeling like your floating.
Looking back on the EP, Premo F Farrelly second project is a themed one for the best part, or at least he has found his own style that works. Premo’s lyrical content explores intoxication, mainly liquor and weed, and a vivid description of his experiences puts the listener right in the moment. The production also fits Premo’s subject matter perfectly, setting the tone nicely.
