Irini Mando is a London-based Singer/Songwriter who has just released the third single from her sophomore EP “Eden” which is available for purchase from all major digital retailers now. ‘Surfin’ Sky High’ follows the previous single release ‘Tide’ which became an instant hit on streaming platforms such as VEVO last year.
‘Surfin’ Sky High’ is a “self-penned hazy R&B track” produced by upcoming producer JFlames, and features lyrics from Irini that explore the aftermath of a relationship that has ended and deals with how Irini moves on from the event, as she states she “made you my history” and that she is “on to better things”. Irini’s melodious, harmonious vocals are dreamy and care-free as she says about the song;“‘Surfin’ Sky High’ describes how I feel about past relationships that didn’t end so well. I don’t believe in holding onto a grudge or any negativity. Shooting by the sea was a no brainer for me as I always feel at home when I’m by the water; it’s where I go to refocus and redefine myself and to start again.” The accompanying visuals to this song are the results of a 6-month project filmed at 10 different locations across London and Brighton.
Irini Mando worked with the Amy Winehouse Foundation back in 2015, and completed the Amy’s Yard programme, where she delivered tracks ‘Pink Noise’ and ‘Hang’ along the way, the latter featuring on the Foundation’s first compilation album by Island Records that year.
PRSF-funded, Irini has been playing classical music and jazz on piano since childhood, the age of 5 to be exact, so her music background is rather extensive. She has adapted to R&B and Pop songs since her teens, discovering a quirky R&B-pop blend that seems to work for her brilliantly. With a credible reputation and fanbase, and also with several headlining gigs and countless TV and radio appearances across London behind her, Irini Mando may just be one to watch this year. Irini will also be headlining Hoxton Square Bar on June 1st and is set to release brand-new music later this year.
