“The Future of UK RnB and Grime”, Geovarn is back with visuals for ‘Skeng’ featuring Tracksuit Mafia’s Belly and Shailan. Not long after dropping the audio recently, ‘Skeng’ has received support from Spotify, being added to the RapUK and Grime Shutdown playlists, and Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Toddla T, DJ Target, Twin B, MistaJam, Reprezent, Beat and more have supported him on Twitter. Skepta even tweeted about the track, labelling it a ”Fucking classic already”, Maverick Sabre was ”feeling this one”, whilst JME rated the visuals, “SKENG Visuals!”, and Chip had some words for Geovarn, “Maaad, Big up Geovarn, Shai & Belly Truusss. You killed this one..”.

North Londoner Geovarn, who also won the ‘Best New Music Act’ at the 2017 IARA Awards, brings an unconventional mix of R&B, Soul, Grime and Trap with this melodic banger. A murky, trap-influenced instrumental, with an off-beat drum pattern and a looped string synth, Geovarn’s vocals are elegant and a complete contrast to the vibe of the song as a whole, yet his lyrics are raw and unapologetic, a reality that is true to the UK Rap and Grime scene, and Geovarn himself. Shailan himself impresses with a skippy, hard-edged flow and delivery.
