NEW SZN signee WhyKreeps teams up with producer W4YZ for ‘Candles’, a follow up to his previous release back in April, ‘Bando Fever’. ‘Candles’ is a staunch return for WhyKreeps, and is an energy-fueled Drill banger, with Kreeps’ punchy flow and delivery complimenting the dark, eerie, piano-clad production that he co-produced with W4YZ. The boastful lyricism from WhyKreeps promotes his work ethic, coming from nothing to something, only focusing on positive energy, and showing confidence and belief in his own capabilities and skills. Along with clever wordplay and lyricism that pertains to the street hustle and his musical escapades, WhyKreeps seems like the calibre of artist that is destined to push his way into the industry, and as he states in the song, “blow by force”.

‘Candles’ is accompanied by dim-lit, gripping visuals directed by himself, Crash Parker and Kreeps’ manager Thierry Souley, and perfectly reflects the track’s dark nature. Superbly captured shots and effects add to the moody undertones of the song and video, and Kreeps delivers an energetic performance.

WhyKreeps was originally raised in Pretoria, South Africa, before he migrated to London at the age of 9. WhyKreeps’ intriguing background and early life have certainly shaped him into the artist he has become today. The change of environment he experienced growing up had an undeniable influence on his versatility as both an artist and a producer. His authentic, unique and organic sound was birthed through his South African roots, and set him apart from many other artists in his field.

Eventually, Kreeps became acquainted with producer and artist John Souley from the Netherlands, and it completely changed the trajectory of his musical journey. Forming a strong and mutual brotherhood, Kreeps was able to integrate and adapt his homegrown artistry, elevating him to a higher calibre.

In 2020, WhyKreeps left the UK to move to Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he became a part of the Amsterdam-based NEW SZN collective through which he went on to release his single ‘Hello Hi’. Although Kreeps is considered a fresh, new talent, he has already earned himself some impressive accolades including a national radio play on Kiss FM with Ellie Prohan, features in Dummy Mag, Mixtape Madness and Link Up TV, as well as industry support from notable Dutch artists Josylvio and Henkie, and UK Based YouTube reactor ProdByWalkz.

Since ‘Hello Hi’, WhyKreeps has been consistent in his craft, following up with singles ‘Oh My’, ‘Bando Fever’, and now ‘Candles’.
