Smokey Bars’ visual specialist Morgan Keyz was filming up north, when a selection of Liverpool’s finest artists heard about this, they got together to record this exclusive track for SBTV. Sirens is a smashing collaborative, Hip Hop/RnB come Trap style track, showcasing some of Liverpools emerging and some established musical talents. The rappers go ham over the melodic, synth driven instru, dropping hot bars about their life, surroundings and boasting about the way they can rip beats . All MC’s possess strong lyrical skill and kill it with the flows, creatively deploying their impressive verses, sounding like a polished, exhibition like cypher. Stand out performances for me are from Innuendo, 4Tunetella, Merki Waters, Jeopardy and singer Normske. Special shouts to Normske, who effortlessly blends her sweet throwback 60s soul Duffy/Diana Ross/Petula Clark style vocals with the modern Trap beats, which work a treat, adding a nice commercial feel to the track. The video is sort of ghetto glamorous, cutting between the urban graffiti covered backdrops and making the empty boarded up houses look almost like a movie set. Great visuals and effects throughout.
