The Bar Staff rappers, Mongrel and Parv, hailing from Portsmouth lay some sick verses down over a Session 600 beat expertly sampling Lorde’s smash hit “Royals”. Session 600, go in with the production, delicately sampling the vocals from Royals, adding big booming, reverberating percussion, with minimal bass and prominent snares that drive the militant vibe of the instrumental. Mongrel and Parv proceed to pepper the riddim with meandering rapidly skippy flows, rapping about fake artists, clones in the scene and those that are simply not ready to take the crown, or in other terms those that will never be “Royals”. The chorus is re-sung in part over the cut up sample, with a sing song summary of the tracks subject matter delivered in a hypnotically exciting fashion. Mongrel and Parv show their creative brilliance and mic skills seemingly switching flows every couple bars and re-fixing the well known song to an near totally original sound.
