Words Are Weapons were in Manchester for a Grime Clash Trial between Leeds’ Angry and Manikye from Manchester, repping Highlife. Both went in with outrageous bars and ferocious delivery, Manikye tearing in to Angry, making assumptions that Angry lives in a broken family, with a life that’s messed up. Angry fires up back with a slew of bars aimed at trying to bury Manikye, shelling the first beat with fight bars. Both Manikye and Angry dropped punchlines to emphasise and humiliate their opponent, and it was back to back for a while, Angry getting a pull up from Chronikill for an excellent play on words, drawing a big reaction from the crowd. Round 2 was a bit of a stalemate in my opinion, where as in Round 3, I think Angry got off to a flying start, with head top bars, getting the crowd and Manikye gassed up, bringing out the best of Manikye. Angry won in a 4-0 decision, which took me by surprise a bit, as I thought both emcee’s were brilliant, but still, I can’t disagree with the decision.
