Ashley Shakur – SHINE
South London-based experimental emcee Ash Shakur kicked off 2016 with the release of his debut EP “Hare This”, he looks set to finish the year the same and as he means to go on with his new follow-up EP “Hare Colours”, the second in a trilogy of projects connecting fashion, art and music. Taken from the EP is ‘Shine’, a mellow, yet bass-rumbling Hip-Hop/Trap beat with a guitar-driven melody, produced by Who Is Mike, on which Ashley’s positive attitude and outlook on life and his future is conveyed through clever lyricism and incredible flows and laid-back delivery. Ashley Shakur is a breath of fresh air for the British Hip Hop scene, bringing a unique and unorthodox style to the table. Notable influences on Ashley’s music Outkast, Nas and Mobb Deep, whose classic instrumentals he would listen to whilst creating illustrations, his first foray in to music. Along with his though-provoking music, Ashley takes full control of his artistic direction, designing his own artwork and clothes and, co-directing his visuals. Listen to this full track below and look out for Ashley Shakur’s forthcoming EP “Hare Colours” which he describes as “an expression of emotions and different moods as each song relates to a particular colour. It represents the times we are in, it’s here to create an impact and start conversations.”
