Awir Leon is a rising electronic star signed to French label Nowadays Records, and is best known as one-third of electro outfit UNNO. Awir Leon is just one of many artists coming from the pioneering French label, as this new track by Awir entitled ‘Sitting So High’ pays subtle homage to the post-dubstep sounds of artists such as James Blake and Jamie Isaac, and fusing powerful R&B vocals lo-fi production and a flurry of glitchy tones. The track’s production contains low down deep, rumbling basslines and is laden with synths possessing an atmospheric vibe. Awir Leon’s vocals, which switch between trip-hop and melancholy jazz are ambient and echoing, the lyrics explore Awir’s mental thoughts and his state of mind and feelings. The video is shot near Awir Leon’s childhood home, as he erratically dances around a coal mountain in Northern France, and is a slow-building, intense and cinematic visual.
