Donae’o & Lethal B team up for another banger taken from Donae’o’s latest album. The track entitled I Don’t Play sees the two heavyweight UK Urban artists go ham over a melodically menacing Trap slash dance beat, equipped with booming kick drums, intricate keys arpeggiated keys and a prominent snapping snare drum. In true trap style the two kick fire bars in a relaxed fashion, with Donae’o proving his mettle as a rapper once again, coming out with killer lines like “ 2 2’s now, man wanna act like fools now, that’s two clowns with tools now, they get a box, won’t even last two rounds”, showing himself to be quite the punchline king of the RnB world. Lethal kills it on the feature too with hard bars parring rival MC’s like it’s light work. As the song title suggest “I Don’t Play” is about going in constantly with no time for game s and the video is a perfect visualization of this with Morgan Keys embodying the concept extremely well, cutting in shots of various games, toys and cd’s (meant ironically,) that the two MC’s “Don’t Play”. The items featured in the video are also a metaphor for classic pieces of modern history, maybe like Lethal and Donae’o and their history making music, The black and white colouring gives the video that dark and moody feel the song has and the transitions and shot selections are technically brilliant. Love the outro on this track too, where the beat switches to an afro beat house riddim, employing a grungy electric guitar bass too. Big tune! Check out the fire and leave us your feedback below…
