Londoner Hulk takes on Manchester’s Flexplicit in an after hours outside battle filmed at Don’t Flop’s recent Summer Standards event held over a two day weekend in Brixton. Both MC’s have contrasting styles, while Hulk has a more aggressive gangster rap style, peppered with hilarious punchlines, Flexplicit has a more conventional battle rap style filled with constant funny bars, aimed to take the absolute piss out of an opponent and set up with comedic timing to get more of a reaction out of a crowd. Having said that Hulk seemed to have the crowd lapping up his rhymes, with more oohs and ahhs throughout than his rival Flex. Hulk won 2 rounds with epic bars about Flex’s height and an RnB scheme that was technically brilliant, and although maybe not as direct as some of Flexplicit’s lines, Hulk had a better crowd reaction. Flexplicit spat some great personals with a hilarious rhyme about twix biscuits, but with crowd laughs for him few and far between and some of his setups being a bit predictable at times, Hulk in my opinion, won this battle 2-1.
