Eyez – Fire In The Booth
Derby’s Eyez joined Charlie Sloth in the BBC 1Xtra studios recently for a Fire In The Booth session. Eyez starts off the freestyle session by warming up on a slow, thumping Hip Hop beat with a tingling piano melody, taking you a journey back to his early years as he states that he always had the hunger and desire, bringing you right up to the present in which he displays great wordplay as he rhymes about being in the limelight, and delivers some bars aimed at the a&r making broken promises, and attacks artists that exaggerate, swiftly and effortlessly killing them lyrically. Eyez then switches it up and rhymes some deep lyrics over another slow, bass heavy instrumental, going in real deep with bars that advise you to be aware of those around you and distinguishing who is real. He also expresses his wishes to be left alone most times, a contrast to where is right now in his career, and rhymes about not having the kind of easy life some would think. Eyez goes in fully in his fire in the booth, displaying an array of flows, switching it up effortlessly and was particularly impressive on the second beat with a laid back low at times, and his lyrical substance and ability in in no doubt up there.
