Nottingham Hip Hop Lyricist Fonzse is back with a new EP “Conscious Decisions” which no doubt contains tracks from Fonzse which are conscious and explorative of Fonzse’s mindstate and thoughts. The soulfully-sampled, produced ‘Mending a Broken Spirit’ features lyrics from Fonzse which reveal his depressed feelings, and he expresses his desire to get away from the pressures he faces. ‘Marathon’ reflects on the contrast between himself, a conscious rapper, and rappers who are faking and repping a generation of reckless living. As well as ‘Mending A Broken Spirit’, the EP is backed by another single/video called ‘Build For Tomorrow’, which features Faceless. The lyrics convey Fonzse’s belief that you need to be in it to win it, and with a desire to escape pain and sorrow and make money, it seems Fonzse is persevering to make a better tomorrow today. Fonzse employs sharp wordplay and a switch up of flows on ‘Way of the Samurai’, rhyming about channelling his pain in to the use of his brain, which can a very powerful tool.
