Jaymal ‘Build’ Davies presents the first episode of Black Velvet, his new project. ‘The Intro’ is a short but powerful acoustic R&B/Soul ballad, with Jaymal delivering mellowing, harmonious vocals on an acoustic instrumental. Jaymal expresses his love, at first sight, for a pretty girl who feels just right about, and he goes on to reveal his plans for them both in the future. A short interval in the video, with great acting from Jaymal which reveals him to be dreaming, and he is back with the second part of the intro, switching up the style to a more Afrobeats-infused R&B/Trap ballad, with echoing vocals. Once again, Jaymal fantasizes about his Cinderalla, in the shower, who he keeps under his umbrella.

A great introduction to #BlackVelvet with EP.1, who already has shown his ability to switch up the style and sound vastly, and that he inspired by a range of different musical styles. ‘The Intro’ sets the tone for a project that will undoubtedly explore more love themes, and should be a very open, personal and intimate affair from Jaymal. Whilst the rhythmic production will be R&B infused, with hints at a touch of Soul, Afrobeat undertones and acoustic vibes.
