Jem Cooke returns with a brand new video for her smooth soulful track entitled “Eyes Up”. Taken from her debut album Cookie Jam, Jem enlists the help of UK rapper Rebler to round off a delightfully inspirational track about keeping your “Eyes Up”, and holding on to hope and faith, being proud and striving towards better days. Ms Cooke lays down her lush vocals over a funky, piano driven, swing percussion heavy instrumental. The track has an old skool UK rnb feel to it, that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Soul 2 Soul album, such is the professional, slick vibe of the song. Jem most certainly has that special something to make her not only a UK superstar, but an international artist. What is refreshing is that Cooke knows her sound, doesn’t try to be somebody generic, writing true, warm, emotive, original music. Big shout out to rapper Rebler who goes in with the rhymes too, executing his bars with precision and impeccable flows. Rebs comes with thought provoking lyricism, thinking outside the box in his wordplay, breaking the norm, spitting positivity. Eyes Up is a great song, one that deserves to chart in all honesty. Loving the video too, matching the tracks slick feel, with a nice black & white finish, classy transitions and cuts to shots of inspirational quotes from artists street art.
