Kate Tempest – ‘Circles’ (Radio Edit)

Kate Tempest 2

UK Hip Hop artist Kate Tempest recently had her brand new track ‘Circles’ released via Big Dada’s soundcloud, the third single from her new album ‘Everybody Down’. Kate Tempest, who is being praised for a captivating narrative on her new album, released this track which is a more out-of-the-box track on the album, and definitely while it falls in to the Hip Hop genre, the production by Dan Carey is an atmospheric club anthem. Kate’s lyricism depicts her downward spiral, more so on the opening chorus with such lines as the opening line ‘I’ve been a mess, I can’t help it’, and lines which depict her hectic attitude, ‘Trying to start wars on the bus’. She also rhymes about loss of love, feeling like her ‘. . . hearts in the gutter’, It may seem hard to get a gist of the song’s meaning, perhaps better in full narrative along with the rest of the album but breaking down Kate Tempest’s superb, intellectual lyricism may leave you taking away your own interpretation of the song. Regardless, Kate has a fresh and original style, although her delivery, especially on the hook, puts me in mind of Lady Sovereign, having a British swagger to her delivery and voice. Stream the track below and be sure to pre-order the single now, and leave us your feedback in the comments section . . .
