L Martin, along with his collective TRTD, has been making noise this year with releases from Stash Peso and Monroe Joe, both premiered on Complex’s UK website, with Casscade and Maine both getting Radio 1 plays.
In the lead up to the release of his own “Growing Pains” LP, which is now done, L Maine has just dropped a Maine collaboration, ‘Eminem’, produced by Jae Dhi. The song represents the determination and drive that the pair have in order to make it, and having self-belief that they are better than the competition. With this song and the spectacular lyricism and undeniably smooth, relaxed flows, the two reach God level, but with swagger, attitude and arrogance. Both the lyrics and the beat, an uplifting instrumental sounding like “a full blown brass band” with a “head banging drum pattern”, are quite motivating.

‘When we created the tune we knew it was a song that needed a visual that represented the same kind of swagger and attitude we had in our verses. We both knew peole who were independently doing what they loved and who we wanted to give some exposure too. The song is basically just personifying the drive and determination we have to make it and believing we are better than the competition.’  – L Martin

The infamous MCTV shot the visuals, starring free running team RUN LDN, a duo of female street dancers and online comedian & football critic @Expressionssssss. A powerful, en-capturing single from L Martin, and a quality, captivating music video, we should hope this will be the catalyst to catapult L Martin’s forthcoming project “Growing Pains” in to the spotlight of the UK Urban Music Scene.
