UK Hip Hop Lyricist Lemzi returns with his latest project, Autumnal Aura EP, featuring six tracks produced by The Deli, Nymano, Billy The Producer/Genjutsu Beats, K The Infinite, Adim Productions. The mellow production on the EP overall reflects Lemzi’s calm style, with tracks like ‘Word Vomit’, ‘Across the Pond/Close to Home’ and ‘Importance’ having Jazz influences. ‘Word Vomit’ features some cleverly delivered intricate wordplay from Lemzi, as he literally coughs or vomits up incredible, coherent vocabulary ad he employs some great poetic techniques. ‘Across the Pond/Close to Home’ is a serious and reflective song about the violence directed at black people from the police, especially in America. Lemzi comes across as calm, a pacifist as he says, but his annoyance and frustration may only hold out for so long as he urges for change. ‘STRIVERS’ features fellow lyricist Tells and is an inspirational, motivational song about striving and aspiring continuously until you no longer see light of day. ‘You 2oo’ is about Lemzi’s relationship with a woman, both spiritual and physical attraction, and Lemzi’s promise to his lady that good times are on the horizon. ‘Importance’ again is about Lemzi persevering to achieve higher things in life, specifically his music, and he stresses on the chorus that we have all got importance in our lifetime.
Lemzi’s spiritual outlook on his life and music career is refreshing to hear, and is truly inspirational. He promotes positivity in his lyrics, even when dealing with sensitive issues such as police brutality which would get most of us riled up, he keeps peaceful. Lemzi’s lyrical style is on a poetic level, the way he incorporates poetic techniques in to his rhymes, something which is maybe overlooked or not as appreciated in today’s Hip Hop music.
