Jethro Sheeran aka Alonestar is the award-winning Rapper, Songwriter and Producer, and cousin of Ed Sheeran, so it seems musical talent runs in the family’s veins. Jethro, under his musical alias Alonestar has returned with his new single ‘Lovelorn’ late last year, featuring Top 10 Singer Rosie Ribbons and is self-produced by Jethro with help from Massive Attack’s guitarist Angelo Bruschini. Lovelorn is a emotive Hip Hop song with heart-pounding production on which Alonestar’s lyrics explore the pain and heartache of love and disastrous relationships where the love is unrequited. Alonestar rhymes with a sorrowfulness in his vocal tones, delivering some excellent, metaphorical lyrics expressing his own feelings as well as the state of the relationship he is in. Rosie is amazing on the chorus with harmonious singing vocals and ad libs too. Jethro is accompanied by Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding for the “breath-taking” music video
Jethro and Rosie wrote ‘Lovelorn’ together about past life experiences, and Jethro explains that this emotive track “is the strongest and most powerful song I have written & produced to date, it reflects my new sound and style. It’s something fresh and different to anything else out there at the moment. I dug deep to exercise the darkness in this track, and fell into the depths of my soul when coming up with the concept.”
Being related to Ed Sheeran, it goes without saying that Jethro has the pressure on him and his work, but he has some impressive successes to boast of himself. Alonestar went straight to No. 3 in the iTunes charts with his debut album ‘Cornerstone’, and went on to win two EIA Awards, two Exposure Music Awards, and even wrote all of Ed Sheeran’s SBTV and Live Room Performance raps and produced Bars and Melody’s platinum selling album ‘143’ reaching No. 4 in the official UK charts. It seems that Alonestar has been the silent talent up to now, a ghost-writer and producer with an ear for hit music, and he is stepping out of the shadows to claim stardom for his own, and with a bit more exposure, he could be a star and take the music industry by storm.
