Melisa Whiskey – Played (Video)
British R&B Singer and Songwriter Melisa Whiskey has unveiled the music video to her new single ‘Played’, taken from the upcoming EP B*A*M Pt 1 due out in early 2017. Melisa Whiskey’s truly remarkable soulful singing voice shines on a grand, anthemic and melodic instrumental, as she comes across as powerful and strong, but singing about her vulnerability in love in this song which is a reflection of a relationship. Having been influenced by the likes of Lauryn Hill, Sade and Amy Winehouse (and you could add Jess Glynne to the mix), the influences are evident in Melisa’ soulfulness and power in her voice, vulnerability in her song lyrics, and the “velvety, caramel tones” too that these ladies have. The music video, directed by Chas Appeti, tracks a young girl along the busy high street in Camden, holding three red balloons, one heart-shaped, whilst it flits between her and Melisa Whiskey singing the song with that same balloon in shot, symbolizing the love that she is maybe holding on to, baring for all to take, and to let go of in the end.
