Mercston takes it back to the old skool Garage days, with a brand new addition in the Back tom 95 mixtape series, this being part 2. As well as most of the mixtape having a nostalgic vibe, there are many familiar sounding Garage beats that Mercston spits on, including 2-Step. For half of the tape, it’s summer vibe with funky Garage, stand out tracks being Summer Of Love featuring fellow MC Scorcher, one for the ladies, Numarks, and Vibes in which Mercston sets the tone for a club scene, trying to link a girl. The mixtape then gets in to some Bassline Garage with N.A.S.T The Y featuring D Double E, both formerly of Nasty Crew, Mercs reminiscing on the old days in the Grime scene, the days with his crew, the clubs and raves he shut down to get his monies. Celebration is yet another Garage track with a hard bassline, with a carnival party vibe to it, with the smooth vocalism from Sia on the hook and there forth, reflecting on how far he has come from a disadvantaged upbringing. Know We featuring So Large and Roachee is a remix of Pay As You Go Cartel’s track of the same name, a testament to what gave birth to Grime, all three dropping big bars, lyrics depicting their large grind, and spitting lyrical artillery, aiming at anyone who wanna test. Maybe my favourite track on the mixtape, the last track 96 is a great way to round off the mixtape, Mercston rhyming on Roy Davis Jr’s Gabrielle (Words To Give By), taking the listener back to the days in the tower block of flats he lived in, appreciating the little things that make looking back on childhood happy.

Another great mixtape by Mercston which pays homage to the UK Garage of old, and for many of the tracks, Mercston spits a couple of verses at least, and lets the original just play, so you can appreciate and enjoy the fab sounds as they were.
