Motzzi – The Scorpion King
Haterproof Ent and Midlands Rap artist Motzzi released his latest mixtape via Haterproof’s brand new website, entitled “The Scorpion King”, Motzzi serves up 15 solid bangers, of which feature him spitting street raps over Trap and Hip Hop instrumentals. Motzzi’s style of rap is street, from the content which sees him on a ryder vibe, bringing ryder muzik with hard-hitting delivery.
Motzzi’s gangsta lifestyle or at least knowledge of the roads is evident even on the intro, coming through to spit about running up on an enemy, comparing himself to a bloodhound, he rhymes about going out for the cash, proper bally music, Motzzi depicting himself handling a stally and leaving with treasure. Motzzi carries on the gangsta muzik with tracks such as “Anytime Ya See Me”, spitting cold-blooded lyrics over and equally sinister, hard-hitting beat. He emphasises the fact “they” can’t take his stripes off of him, reminding you of his G status, warning of the killer shots he would let off.
Between all of the gritty depiction of the street life, on the likes of “Money On My Mind”, a lighter vibe features Motzzi on his money-making hustle, getting paper by any means, keeping a lady he can trust, and making sure that what he supplies is the best, and that everyone comes to him. Moving drugs, and investing, with money on his mind all of the time, Motzzi, however through illegal business becomes quite profitable. Motzzi comes with a laid back flow on here, working better than some of the other tracks featured on the mixtape.
“Bass Drop” expresses Motzzi’s love of bass, keeping the music loud until the cops come knocking, lighting up a bud, thinking cloudy thoughts, spitting once again ryding, weighing up coke on scales, stating that he can’t leak cd units, leaving no clues for tax men. Motzzi’s “Don’t Give A F**k” radiates on this trap banger.
Label mate Chronikal is featured on the mixtape, on “Im Ill”, where she is featured on the hook, stating that he is ill, Motzzi spits sick lyricism, warning that he has got tools for any guy that wants to war, pushing weight, and warning that he would put you to sleep if you mess with his grind. Haterproof affiliate Zigg Zagg has an appearance on “Don’t Blow My High” and “Creep”. The former is once again a Trap banger, Zigg Zagg dropping impressive flows, as both rappers spit about blazing up the weed, and having situations blow their high, even keeping a pump close for protection. Motzzi reminisces on smoking the best weed, getting effed up from the effects. I think Motzzi’s flow improved on this track too.
Motzzi provides a mixtape full of street tales, about ryding, facing your enemies and not backing down, Motzzi puts himself in the role of a cold-blooded killer at times, definitley a respected gangsta in his ends, and with money making, hustling, grinding and enjoying the best weed, Motzzi lets you live through those experiences without having to actually go through them yourself. Whilst I think Motzzi could improve his flow, the delivery is on point though, hard-hitting for the content he puts in to his knwoledgable lyricism. The beat selction is fine, a lot of Trap for all of those Trap lovers, although it’s not quite for me. In all fairness, if you like Road Rap, this is for you.
