Rapper XP teams up with P110 to drop a music video for his epic song entitled “Surviving”. The mc delivers heartfelt and emotive lyricism over a smooth, melodic, pulsating piano led instrumental. XP unleashes inner pain, spits his view on the world around him, states facts about his life and tells of his determination to simply survive and escape the bs. The artist paints pictures with his wordplay, using irony, double edged, juxtaposed metaphors to relay his message, the line “Grew up a screw up, I’m gonna die a legend” sums up XP’s reasoning throughout the song and with bars like “dealing with some problems, never had an option, always used to give a fuck, now it aint as often, everydays a battle just as well I never lost em, man will pay the price no matter anything it cost em” it’s hard to deny his greatness as a writer. The chorus is deep, poignant and creates a sense of XP wanting to move on to a new chapter in his life. Surviving is a great song, real and edgy in its content, yet musically so strong that anybody from any walk of life can relate to its message, that right there is the sign of a potentially international artist.
