Tamworth-based emcee RP released ‘A Piece Of My Mind’ EP back on Xmas Day 2016. A versatile emcee, the West Midlands artist drops tracks like the title track ‘A Piece Of My Mind’, a solemn Hip Hop track with heart-felt lyrics and impeccable range of flows which RP alternates between. ‘Fuck The System’ is another Hip Hop track with underlying Jazz/Blues tones, on which RP talks about injustices and and wrongs in the system, the government and society. The Hip Hop tracks on the EP make for some chilled vibes, with RP seeming to take the time to explore his mind, his thoughts and his feelings.
As well as kickin’ rhymes on Hip Hop beats, RP rips up Grime riddims with tracks like ‘Ain’t Nothin’ New’, one of a few up-tempo grime bangers from him. RP goes in on a Terror Danjah beat on ‘All For The Money’ as he takes swipes at some of the so-called road man who are not moving correct. RP is joined by Relapse, Gibz, Risky, Vee, RTFact, Juvee and Flowen for a grime sprayout on ‘Next Saturday Freestyle’ produced by Rude Kid, all emcee’s delivering energetic bars for this onslaught. Finally, Grime meets Hip Hop on ‘The Real RP’, a grime refix of Eminem’s classic ‘The Real Slim Shady’, with RP spraying skippy, rapid flowing bars, even on the anthemic chorus.
