Saskilla recently took to soundcloud to release a brand new EP called ‘Godson Prequel’. The EP features six Grime tracks, including ‘Nobody Better’, a boastful track with Saskilla radiating confidence in his lyrics, labelling himself the Godson of Grime and stating he is gonna put Grime on the map this year. Saskilla delivers skippy, rapid flows over the bassy, trapesque instrumental. ‘SebZero’ features an infectious hook from Saskilla, and the song conveys his ability to attract female attention unlike certain guys. Jamkvy links up with his brother for ‘Wasteman.com’, a witty chorus to boot, as both slew guys that hype up can’t back their chat. The two go back to back with energetic flows, double time over the slowed up grime production. ‘A.J.A’ is one of two tracks featuring a host of mc’s. All Jokes Aside sees Wiley provide the hook, as Saskilla, Desperado and Corleone take to the banging beat to attack inferior mc’s. ‘Here Before’ features Jamkvy again, as well as Dusty, Cadell and Cadet, with the lyrics from the five mc’s conveying the struggles they face as they persevere to achieve their goals. The chorus offers the notion that dejavu has kicked in as they go through the same situation time and again. The mc’s deliver rapid flows over the equally energetic grime instrumental. ‘U’ is an ambient grime production that sees Saskilla seeming to find a solution to his woman problems. A superb release from Saskilla, one of Grime’s most promising talents, and in my opinion, along with Jamkvy, the two could well go further and succeed in 2016. This is just the beginning!
