Scorcher has rounded up two of his peers from his old The Movement crew, Mercston and Ghetts, for his new track ’99 Riddim (My Ting)’ which is produced by Scholar. The riddim sounds like a throwback to the early Ruff Sqwad sound, and is a “ rude and effective reminder that Scorcher is part of the grime scene blueprint.” Original, raw grime energy and nostalgia are at the forefront with this tune as the trio serve up infectious flows to match the skippy beat, and the lyrics are abrasive, cheeky and braggadocio.
Scorcher has been apart of the Grime culture for years, the North Londoner has been an integral member of Cold Blooded and The Movement, amongst the pioneering grime crews, and has released some of grime music’s classic mixtapes with his “Simply The Best” trilogy. Selling out London’s Jazz Cafe when he performed his previous solo release, the ‘1 of 1’ E.P, live, he has also hit headlines in the summer, appearing on Sky News, The Guardian, BBC network, Capital network and beyond. He even turned his attentions from music to acting once again, taking the lead role as ‘Hoodz’ in the independent film The Intent, but also provided the lead track for the film. He followed this up with a collaborative EP between himself, GRM Daily and Rocket from Splurgeboys. Scorcher may not get the recognition and ratings he deserves at times, often underrated, but this one will see Scorcher set the scene ablaze again with this fire, and before the smoke has cleared, the b-side record will feature Donae’O on ‘Paranoid’ which follows this track real soon.
