African R&B artist Seyi Shay has been dominating the market for some years now, and she has just released her latest single and music video, ‘Yolo Yolo’, to a global audience, which is doused in vibrant, summer flava. An experimentalist in her own music, she injects Highlife, Latin music and Afrobeats in to her sounds for this track, but along with the visuals, brings the summer to us all early. Seyi Shay delivers harmonious vocals over a rhythmic, up-tempo production by DJ Coublon, that is laden with pianos, trumpet calls and samba swing. The video, filmed in South Africa, courtesy of Meji Alabi for JM Films, features a dazzlingly dressed Seyi in the vibrant, sun-filled, party-themed shots and scenes.
Seyi Shay has already captivated audiences with her music, landing the title of ‘2016 R&B Artist of the Year’ at Nigeria’s Headies Awards. Born in the UK, she has worked with some the biggest, global artists from Justin Timberlake and Harmony Samuels to Grime MC Chip. She supported Beyonce and P Diddy on tour, and is “one of the most strongly endorsed females in Nigeria”, that has seen her perform at major events and topping the charts with her music. Seyi Shay is also preparing to hit TV screens for the new season of hit series, MTV Shuga, on where she will present her new record ‘Yolo Yolo’.
