Coventry’s very own Skatta returns with a new single from his forthcoming album ‘Cinema Ticket’. Following up the release of previous single ‘Record Box’, Skatta drops a video to accompany ‘Follow The Sun’, produced by Dipiz. Sampling ‘Lover’s Summer Song’ by Janko Nilovic & Davy Jones (Bobby Cannon), Dipiz provides Skatta with a mellow, chilled Jazz-infused soulful Hip Hop beat, on which he flows laid back with skillful lyricism and wordplay. Skatta’s lyrics reflect his positive attitude during hard times, as he reminisces on tough times growing up, and the struggle to get to a point when he can finally kick back and smile about his achievements. Metaphorically speaking, Skatta favours soaking up the rays of sunshine, or positive vibes, what ever the weather.

The visuals for ‘Follow The Sun’, edited by Deevelop Media, see Skatta enjoying the sunshine in select locations in London’s Little Venice, Coombe Abbey in Coventry and a skate-park in Lille, France. With Deevelop Media covering the main shots in the UK, and Cameramandex filming the France scenes, both captured great shots that take in the clear skyline, green space and architecture, and Little Venice’s spectacular canal. The video compliments the calm, chilled vibe of the song perfectly.

Skatta has already received support for his upcoming album from Itch FM and BBC Music Introducing West Midlands. Skatta wrote, developed and recorded his new album ‘Cinema Ticket’, with the help of funding, after being named winner of The Artist Fund 2018 in co-operation with the PRS for Music Foundation. Due to premiere in November this year, ‘Cinema Ticket’ will be released via French label Broc Recordz. From the sound of the first two singles ‘Record Box’ and ‘Follow The Sun’, it will presumably be a rather contemplative, introverted project, the name perhaps suggesting that Skatta will invite the listener to go on a journey with him, to see the world through his eyes. Nevertheless, we enjoy what we have heard so far, and look forward to the next release from Skatta, and highly anticipate the arrival of ‘Cinema Ticket’.
