Streakz – See My Vision
UK MC Streakz recently unveiled his brand new EP called ‘See My Vision’ which features 7 solid tracks,Streakz spraying bars over Trap, Grime and Hip Hop, proving himself to be a versatile artist, and this EP also features fellow MC’s Voltage, Flex, M.A.D and Mantic. Streakz goes in from the off, the intro featuring Streaks rhyming over a gully Trap beat, showing those artists that may have fell off the levels of which they need to be, as well as spitting about the positive turn his life has taken. Going in to the next track ‘Night Fall’. Featuring Voltage and Flex, all three spray bars over a Grime beat, once again setting the levels for the competition, and shedding light on the activity that they get up to at night time. This track has the perfect mix of hype but also bringing the vibe down to calm on the hook, a wavey, sing song chorus which is nicely wrote.
‘Squad Sh*t’ is another brilliant song, one of my favourite on the EP, a grimey Trap production on which Streakz rhymes about success bringing fake friends, surrounding himself with winners, those that are serious about music. Streakz also puts some reality in to his lyrics, negativity that has made him wiser with age. Streakz’ delivery, especially on the second verse is superb, well thought out and the hook is a golden touch to the track.
‘Wait & See’ which features M.A.D and Mantic is a deep track, a track about success, Streakz setting himself apart from other rappers, in the music for the long run, to feed his family. M.A.D is impressive, his style similar to the likes of Devlin, rhyming about his inner battles, paranoia and strengthening in hard times. Mantic speaks about making those ignorant to his music listen once he blows up. The production is melancholy,a piano driven melody, the three rappers rhyming with emotion in their delivery.
The more thoughtful and introspective rhymes continue on ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ as Streakz flows seamlessly over a floaty Trap influenced Hip Hop beat, reflecting on relationships, feeling head over heels in love, acting like a gentleman rather than disrespectful like past boyfriends, preferring his relationship to be strictly one to one. Streakz does reveal that while he makes mistakes, they are acceptable of it, helping their relationship grow. Streakz makes a otherwise seemingly easy subject complex with fantastic lyrical technicality.
This is Streakz’ vision of life, from music and success to the downfalls and hardships that he experiences through out his life, as well as dealing with subject matters such as relationships, whilst also breaking down the competition with intellectual and complex lyricism, which in my opinion makes him one of a few good lyricists in UK Rap at the moment. Streakz also has energetic delivery which crosses over to Grime especially when he flows rapidly. I’ll certainly be looking out for more from Streakz in the future, but stream the mixtape below and leave us your feedback and opinions . . .
