The Intent, a glossy new thriller from co-directors Nicky Slimting and Femi Oyeniran, made it’s debut in selected cinemas and was released on digital download via iTunes this past Friday. The film stars MOBO nominated and former Top Boy actor/musician Scorcher, Ashley Chin (Starred Up, Plastic), award winning Hip Hop Duo Krept & Konan, Femi Oyeniran (Kidulthood), Jade Asha (As Bad as Me), Nicky Slimting Walker (It’s a Lot), Dylan Duffus (1 Day), Shone Romulus (Topboy), Sarah Akokhia (Hallows Eve) and rap royalty Fekky.
Set in the heart of London, the chilling tale of gang warfare, greed and drugs unfolds. Newfound infamy for the TIC crew affords the gang members the fast life, which catches the attention of all the wrong people and trust starts to become an issue, ultimately leading to their downfall. Infiltration, dishonour and ego are key to the plot but the key question is, what is “The Intent” of each player.
Co-directors Nicky Slimting and Femi Oyeniran have also put together a brilliant Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to go along with the release of The Intent movie, featuring stellar UK artists, including Ghetts, Scorcher, Tanika, Stormzy, Fekky and Ms Banks and much more. The soundtrack goes hand in hand with the film, driving and setting the tone of the motion picture, from Ghetts’ gritty lead track ‘Savage’ to Ms Banks’ ‘The Come Up’ featuring Ayo Beatz. Scorcher and Rocket provide ‘Timbo Flow’, SeeJay100 and Cadet are joined by Ayo Beatz for a bouncy Grime riddim ‘Day 1’z’, whilst there are also track from MoStack, Big Tobz, Tanika and Stormzy, Fekky and Ruff Sqwad to name a few. A mixture of UK Grime and Rap music, from veterans, up and coming and established artists, all repping the UK Urban Scene, and each portraying a differing view of the lifestyles depicted in the film.
Some of the artists (Manga St. Hilare, Rapid, Scorcher, Rocket, SeeJay100, Cadet & Paigey Cakey) from the soundtrack also went to join Charlie Sloth on a special ‘The Intent’ Fire In The Booth recently, as well as joining Westwood in his crib for a Crib Session, featuring Manga St. Hilare, Splurgeboys and PAP along with Rocket and James Pyke, and SeeJay100. In celebration of the release of the film and soundtrack, both sets went off with a bang!
