DF Champion Tony D and one of the huge young names in UK Grime and Battle Rap, Double L take to the stage in an epic clash at Don’t Flop’s recent Sunburn tournament. E & D rep Tony by no means had this clash easy as Wolverhampton lyrical pugilist Double L came through with two extremely tough opening rounds, using his charismatic and animated delivery, excentuating punchlines with melody and a timed flow to make a mockery of some of the E & D crew and insulting Tony’s age with hilarious schemes. Tony’s first round was solid, but not really strong as he can do and the old adage “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish” rang true here. Tony came back with a stronger end to his second and a monster third round parring Double L to oblivion, old skool schooling the new and using his natural wit, charisma and oozing confidence stormed to victory on the home straight. Close battle to the halfway point, but Tony’s experience won this clash. A valiant effort from Double L, maybe if he comes off the E & Daniels axe he persists in grinding, he could have had this in the bag. Looked very promising, can’t wait to see Double face some other top tier DF battlers, no doubt he will shine there too. Big clash!
