Too Many T’s – Diamonds/Gold (Prod. Odjbox & Flux Pavilion)

London-based Rap duo Too Many T’s dropped a surprise track taken from their forthcoming debut album this past week, ‘Diamonds/Gold’ produced by Odjbox and Flux Pavilion. Leon “Rhymes” Smith and Ross Standaloft, praised by Huffington Post as “Britain’s answer to the Beastie Boys”, as well as Radio X’s John Kennedy and influential DJ Rob Da Bank, deliver fun, animated lyrics, on Odjbox and Flux’s boom bap style, bass-booming, guitar-driven Hip Hop beat, spraying tongue-in-cheek bars about a luxurious, expensive lifestyle and flash possessions. The song fuses Rap and Rock together in the same way pioneers such as Beastie Boys and Run DMC did before, and with the duo poking fun at the new wave of “wack ass Instagram rappers just chatting about what they have rather than making any decent music”, they may well be waving the banner for the true art form of Rap. No surprise then that this duo’s influences include De La Soul, Jurassic 5, and Big Daddy Kane. Check out this brilliant lighthearted Hip Hop tune below and let us know what you think in the comments.
