Trapstar and DJ Logan Sama both linked up for a collaborative mixtape via HYPETRAK recently. With one inspiration in mind, the two set out to round up MC’s new and old from the Grime Scene to choose a beat or riddim that made them fall in love with Grime. The mixtape features the likes of Section Boyz, Jammz, Bonkaz, Novelist and Stormzy, as well as Maxsta, Scrufizzer, Newham Generals, Ruff Sqwad, Kano, Roll Deep, Nasty Jack and Marcie Phonix. Featuring some vintage Grime riddims, stand out tracks include Ghetts, So Large and Rival mashing it up over Skepta’s classic refix of Bone Thugs ‘N’ Harmony’s Thuggish Ruggish, Jammz, Big Zuu, Ten Dixon and Mic Ty shelling a bass-heavy Fire Remix produced by Waifa, including one line flows, Ruff Sqwad’s Rapid-produced Pied Piper, a B2B sprayout from Maxsta and Scrufizzer on the Wiley produced Slippin In SW, a relay full of reload worthy bars by StayFresh over the Eastwood produced U Aint Ready and a Wretch 32 solo on the classic Ghetto Kyote, a bouncy Grime beat produced by Treble Clef. A trip down memory lane for many long time Grime fans and a history lesson for new listeners of Grime music, this release is rich in British Grime history, schooling us on the sound that gave birth to and defined the genre, yet introducing both the new skool and the old skool which is fused in to one project.
