Grime MC Stormzy, winner of the MOBOS Best Grime Artist, and one of 1Xtra’s Hot for 2015, joined MistaJam on his BBC Radio 1Xtra show recently, to perform live his highly successful single ‘Not That Deep’, which has garnered various remixes by the Grime and Rap scene. The track features Stormzy going on gully with the lyricism, rhyming about his hard-edged image and attitude whilst on the roads, and also keeping a focus on the grind, chasing his dreams and getting paid enough to provide for his family so they can live comfortably. Stormzy also pars off rival mc’s, boasting of his lifestyle, his skills and ability to diminish competition, and also squashes the fake talk and lies by supposed bad man. Stormzy comes across a care-free guy in the tune, but he shells down bars effortlessly with solid flow, his delivery hard hitting and making an impact. Stormzy was also spot on with the hook, which is probably one of the most catchy, infectious choruses his year, which goes to show and prove Stormzy’s song craft ability and skills to write a hot hook . . .
