Ben Ridley – SuperLoner (Produced by Cruise City, Cyrus & Ben Ridley)

The Nuu Game Republic brings you a visual film for ‘SuperLoner’ by Ben Ridley, directed by Spacey Blak. The production by Cruise City, Cyrus and Ben himself is futuristic, ambient, synth-based trap-style Hip Hip, possessing a thumping beat. The track’s lyrics resemble the lonely metaphorical state that Ben Ridley often slips in to, just like many of use who are addicted to social networks, feeling unconnected from the real world, whilst he feels like he has no-one to talk to even though he may have many contacts in his phone. Ben rhymes about his love of women, especially the sexy ones, but yet he states he can’t settle down, and prefers to be alone most times, creative coming alive and making his best work, whilst he also rhymes about not associating with bullies or those that don’t play by the rules. Ben incorporates such witty and clever metaphors and punchlines in his lyrics, for instance, “pics of food on social networks but I’m still hungry for more”, which resembles the theme of the track. Ben’s flow and delivery on the track are slow and hard hitting, but rather complement the beat and play in to the vibe of the track. The video narrative portrays Ben as loner surrounded by people, but he is seemingly isolated, even in party atmosphere’s, whilst scenes show him strolling around on his lonesome, which stems from the lyrics which state that you are born alone, and die alone, so that Ben is fending for himself almost, with his alter-ego BLK BRD representing the meaning of living a real, authentic life..
