Murkerz – Tom Hardy
South West MC Murkerz recently released his new E.P, aptly named ‘Tom Hardy’, as Murkerz portrays a maniacal, psychotic side to his persona on this mixtape. Murkerz opts for mostly Trap production, packed with eerily haunting pianos, bells and chimes, and scratchy percussion, which allows him to display energetic delivery over hard hitting, bass-heavy beats. From tracks like ‘Time To Cook’ to ‘Mood Swings’, Murkerz deliver a lyrical onslaught of bars aimed at rival competition, and explaining his depressive mind state and a mentally unstable mind, due to dark times, on tracks like ‘Gallows’ and ’12 Hours’. Murkerz displays himself as a psychotic lyricist acting maniacal, just like some of Tom Hardy’s characters including Bane, featured on the cover, and Charles Bronson, whom Tom Hardy’s dialogue is sampled in the track ‘Menu’ as Murkerz sprays gory, graphic lyrics. As well as paying homage to Tom Hardy’ Murkerz shows off a passion for horror, with Blair Witch Projects Parts I & II, the latter featuring Neonz, Raiman and Crimz. The first instalment in particular showcases Murkerz’ song writing skills with a fantastic hook, as he reference the paranormal. The lyrical content that Murkerz has to offer makes his music more enigmatic, Murkerz seeming to have a liking to horrorcore.
