Bournemouth and KBU MC Crimz recently released a five-track EP ‘GameCharger’. ‘Real Shit’ produced by Visionz samples Lana Del Rey’s ‘High By The Beach’ on grimy bassline-orientated beat, on which Crimz emphasizes his hard work and stressing that there are no bring-ins as well as survival in all walks of life. ‘Troubles 2016’ also samples but Folks Singer Vera Hall, where Crimz states his intentions to avoid jail and moving like a wasteman, and he also conveys his pain by spitting about family he has lost. ‘It’s Not A Thing’ sees Crimz quoting Ghetts’ ‘Sing 4 Me’, produced by Gritty, calling himself a King and whom girls want to roll with. Majik is on the production for ‘Kiss The Sky’ which stands out once again as Crimz spits over a Rockesque, drum-heavy beat and chiming keys, showing his confidence with braggadocio lyrics that convey that he is superior to other MC’s. ‘Where’s Forma?! Is a Trapesque Grime beat produced by Audio Slugs and is war dub from Crimz aimed at Forma, and Crimz, rhetorically asking where he is, takes digs at him for flopping after a few bars and ducking out of beef with him, and Crimz also assertively tells him not to hype up.
Crimz KBU delivers a great EP that showcases his barring skills and energetic flows which is accustom to Grime music, and with varied production brings out different vibes and lyrical content. From braggadocio to real life story telling to a deadly war dub, this is just a glimpse of Crimz’ capabilities but is still impressive.
