Finesse Foreva – The Finesse Foreva Mixtape Vol. 1
The long awaited drop of South East London collective Finesse Foreva’s debut mixtape is here. ”The Finesse Foreva Mixtape Vol. 1” features nine tracks from T-Face, a Drill Rap artist, Bashment prodigy IQ, UK Afrobeats stars TayoGG and Bagz, with production from in-house producer JB104. Recorded at the 104 Studios where the collective is based, the crew have cooked up a collection of songs, solo and collaborative, that encapsulate and represent their ethos, unapologetic, defiant, a statement of confidence and clarity.
Tracks from T-Face and IQ such as ‘War Face’, ‘Trapspot’ and ‘2 Hands’ provide a harsh exploration of the reality of living in London, and consequences of the life they have chosen. ‘War Face’ features an unapologetic T-Face. The 18 year old delivers reflective lyrics revealing the lessons her has learnt during a life of lawlessness. JB104 produces a hypnotic trap beat, with T-Face providing bass-infused flows and gritty bars.
Likewise, ‘Trapspot’ by T-Face and IQ delves in to the lifestyle these two have chosen. Cash rules everything around us, and it can alter how certain man behave around it. Whilst IQ sings about bringing his lady to the trapspot, business and pleasure don’t mix on TayoGG’s summer banger ‘Undercover Lover’. Produced yet again by JB104, the song is a fusion of R&B sounds and Afrobeat vibes. TayoGG’s melodic singing vocals are a nice touch to the track, and he even mixes it up with a hard-edged rap verse too. This is one to vibe to in the summer, enticing the ladies to whine whilst the guys may just be crooning.
‘Man Down’ is another track from TayoGG which fuses influences of Trap, Rap and Afrobeats, TayoGG rhymes about a lavish lifestyle plagued by haters out to get him. The repercussions are echoed in the chorus, like a war cry, TayoGG sings ”man down”, whilst also pondering life choices. ‘Ride Again’ follows the same formula as the previously mentioned, where IQ rhymes about the “two-faced” frenemies in the life that he didn’t chose in the beginning, whilst he stays confident, flying straight and bringing home the bread.
TayoGG makes a third appearance on ‘Fire’ which also features Bagz and David Monroe. Infused with Afrobeat flava, this is another summer banger and one for the sexually attractive ladies giving their man some lovin’.
A combination of sounds come together in this collective, such as Drill, Rap, R&B or Afrobeats. Each artist is confident and talented in his own style and sound, bringing something different to the crew. Finesse Foreva follow in the footsteps of the likes of Section Boyz and 67, both originating from the South of London. Finesse Foreva are well equipped with versatile artists under one roof, that they appeal to different audiences in music. This is just the introduction to Finesse Foreva, one of the hottest UK Rap acts to come out of the UK in a while.
