Renowned Video Director/Executive Producer Flash Johnson has recently put together a monumental album entitled ‘Love Me Now Not When I’m Lit’, which utilizes his position and reputation, as well as skill-set, to produce a project that merges both London and Canada’s Rap culture. One of the stand-out tracks from the album is recent drop ‘Love Me Now’, featuring Blockboi Twitch, from Toronto, Ontario, and West London’s Msl, with heavy-hitting, cinematic production from Cicco Beatz. The two lyricists implement their own styles on the track, however both deliver individual verses with ferocity and energy. The lyrics complement the triumphant mood of the melodious Drill beat, as both take the opportunity to celebrate their own achievements, exploring their own origins and struggles on the come up, expressing a passion for their craft, additionally the hunger and determination to arrive at this milestone. Blockboi Twitch and Msl are confident of their ability and potential, coming across as humble, but nonetheless, and rightfully so, expect you to realize the time and effort they have put in to perfecting themselves, and the accolades they have amassed, before it’s too late. As the saying goes, give them flowers whilst they’re alive, not when they’re dead, and if anything epitomizes the end goal that these two strive for, is Msl stating he’ll be “sitting at the top on the throne with a chrome on the side and a very big cane”. Interpret it as will, however, I believe that he is looking to obtain wealth and riches through success, and become a legend like the those in Rap history that this particular quote conjures up in my mind, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, The Notorious B.I.G, and Jay-Z to name a few. Hip Hop royalty!

The visuals are of course courtesy of the multi-talented Flash Johnson, and are just as cinematic as the soundtrack, with Flash filming and directing a movie that takes you from Toronto to London, as Blockboi Twitch and Msl both represent their own blocks, and with some high-paced shots and edits, the artists can focus on delivering their verses, displaying effortless wordplay skills too.
