Ahead of the famous footballing North London Derby match last weekend, Don’t Flop, E & Daniels and Copa90 present a one off special clash between two buddies, label mates, lyrical sparring partners and tag team battlers and rival football team supporters. Friends become enemies when the North London Derby is played. Don’t Flop champion Tony D represents Tottenham Hotspur, Locksmyth Represents Arsenal, who wins? You decide! (Tottenham though 😉 Locksmyth kicks things off with references to Tony D’s looks in similarity to Aaron Lennon, cussing Tony’s beloved team and squad players, throwing in the likes “Soldoodoo” and Danny Rose, dragging up trophy history, and using football terms to emphasise his lyrical stature in comparison to his competition. Locksmyth draws a lot of good metsphors out of the bag to showcase his wordplay skills as well try and defeat his opponent. Don’t Flop champ Tony D goes second in the 1-round battle, making references to Locksmyth’s beard, comparing him to Chelsea’s former player Michael Duberry, and warning him of his capabilities to “split your wig down the middle” and leave him looking like Bacary Sagna’s braids. He drops lyrics of which boast of being able to leave Locksmyth in a cast or wheelchair like Jack Wilshire. Tony D also disses Locksmyth’s team, bigging up his chances by making references to Paul Merson not betting on Locksmyth against him, and also drops in bars about the Campbell scandal going on longer than Wenger’s overly long puffer coat. This battle was rather interesting, watching both artists drop references to players, comparing mediocre footballers to each other as well making connections with football news, past and present. This was football banter in lyrical form, both artists pulling off incredible punchlines, quite hard for me to decide so why don’t you check out the battle below and tell us who you think grabbed the W . . .
