The ‘Rap Philosopher’ Benjamin A.D returns with a new track called “Escapism”, produced by Little Simz’ collaborator and producer Junia-T. This is the third instalment in Ben’s series of monthly singles, and it features lyrics from Benjamin in which he escapes the raw reality. As Ben explains about this track, it focuses on ‘…looking at things under a microscope rather than skimming in our busy lives’. Ben contemplates his own weaknesses and flaws as well as delving in to mental health and depression from time to time, making you want to escape the pressure of everyday life. Benjamin’s rough voice is juxtaposed on the jazz-influenced melody and heavy drum beats. Benjamin A.D has been compared to the likes of Hip Hop heavyweights and profound lyricists, Kendrick Lamar and Ghostpoet, which is fair comparison when you digest the the bars and the rhyming technique that Ben displays.
