Who Is Desiigner? What is Panda? Well, in case you hadn’t noticed, in the last two months or so that many rappers/mc’s across the globe have been hitting the internet with their own remixes of this Panda Freestyle, competing for the best version as you do, puffing out their lyrical chests and displaying their lyrical abilities and array of flows. Desiigner is the American Rapper, from Brooklyn, NY, behind this Menace-produced hard-hitting, bass-laden, trap banger. Desiigner is featured on the track spitting lyrics that boast of his riches, rhyming about bxtches, and making references to drug use. The inspiration behind the song is apparently the white BMW X6, and this luxurious car’s resemblance of the endangered species. However, this song has resulted in Desiigner featuring on Kanye West’s “Pt. 2” which also sampled the track, and Kanye’s “Freestyle 4”, plus signing to GOOD Music/Def Jam Recordings.

In the wake of all of the masses of Panda Freestyles and Remixes, here is a run-down, in no particular order, of some of the best versions, taking you from the US to the UK, France and all around the globe. From Lil Mama to Meek Mill, Lil Kim to Futuristic, Lady Leshurr, Cory Gunz and Lupe Fiasco and much more, there are many great Panda Freestyles to choose from.
Lil Mama dropped her own remix of the Panda back in February this year. The Brooklyn spitter takes to the beat delivering a lyrical onslaught of tough, forceful flows, spraying lyrics which convey a fighting mentality, exploring her own upbringing, rhyming about her family and her chaotic lifestyle.
Another Brooklyn resident to drop a remix was the Queen Bee herself, Lil Kim ( https://soundcloud.com/lilkimofficial/kim-x-maino-panda-dirty ). Featuring fellow BK Rapper Maino, Lil Kim boasts of her own rich lifestyle, throwing out punchlines effortlessly on the track. The ladies really held it down on this remix, including Sneaky T, radiating confidence as she lyrically rids of female competition, likewise with the UK’s Lady Leshurr, taking on the whole beat like Sneaky. Lady Leshurr displays ferocious delivery and rapid flows as she asserts herself as the female in charge. She also puts her own spin on the track with an original and catchy hook. Chey recently released her own version too, spitting bars to silence all those that are mouth and no action. Chey’s delivery and rhymes are bold and she just so happens to come off harder than most of her male counterparts in the rap game.

As much as some may dislike the new wave of “Trap Rappers”, there is no denying they are setting trends. While you may prefer lyrics with more “substance”, there is no harm in embracing this collection of fire remixes of Panda, from big stars like Meek Mill to lesser knowns such as Yung Dubz, Kur or Smoke Dawg. Meek Mill released a Panda Freestyle as a double-release alongside Summer Sixteen, aiming bars at rival rappers, boasting of his assets and riches, and references the trap life. Apparently just another instalment in the Meek Vs Drake saga, Meek undeniably delivers much heat. Yung Dubz ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfxGJxvB06s ) provides you with straight street heat as does Kur who switches up the flows, somewhat breath-taking. Smoke Dawg ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0Y24dxMAQs ) jumps on the banging instrumental and spits street-edged lyrics which he chronicles his rise to the top of the money-making chain, obtaining riches. UK Rappers Devinks, who actually jumped on a chopped up remix of the beat, and Shemzy also dropped a remix recently. Whilst Devinks ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrNtY1FvECc ) dropped road raps and a range of impressive flows, Shemzy went in with rapid flows, dropping a chorus which talks on the trap life, and delivering much substance in his verse which boasts of his superior skills and calls out guys that claim they are about a certain life.

Papoose went in for the kill on his Panda ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syG0Xxy2L3k ) and Cory Gunz teamed up with Lucci Louhoe, both bringing different aspects of their lyrical arsenal to the remix. Lucci is on the trap vibes whilst Cory rains down some impressive metaphors on the track. Killamoe and Bayy Savage released a remix ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byghgHbfxYg ) which was not short of energy, as they both rhymed about bxtches amongst other things. Futuristic decimated the beat in a #OneTake freestyle session, mimicking some of the dead flows on display by other rappers, and he displays a range of flows as he switches up and effortlessly delivers rapid, chopper flows. International rap artist Take a Mic released a Panda freestyle, and even though I’m not fluent in French, this mc’s abilities are in no doubt, he kills the beat with his impressive delivery and flow. Jacksonville Rapper Swordz , “Sharp Words”, loaded up the lyrical artillery on his own version ( https://soundcloud.com/swordz/panda-swordz-remix ) released on soundcloud, ravaging the beat with ravenous lyricism, flat lining the beat with rapid flow and an attack on other mc’s. Lupe Fiasco ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxCMx63U34g ) dropped some clever metaphors involving chinese food and he possesses triplet flows.

If by now you are bored of all of the Panda remixes, and wondering how many more rappers have to drop one, you would be agreeing with Joyner Lucas, who stated that quite clearly. Joyner kills off the beat once and for all, tearing up the beat with killers flows and killer bars, employing the technique of juxtaposition as he reels off various species of the animal kingdom, concluding that he is T-Rex coming for the panda. Joyner excellently showcases an array of flows, at one point revving up like a machine gun to riddle the beat with chopper-style flow. I’ll leave with you with this final remix, which fittingly comes last, being my personal favourite, and in my opinion, the best of them all.
