EERF EVIL – SELF REFLECTION – EP
Conscious Hip Hop Lyricist Eerf Evil releases a new EP ‘Self Reflection’, a musical and spiritual journey that Eerf Evil invites you on, as he reflects not only himself but the meaning of life and the world we live in, shaping our beliefs. ‘Self Reflection’ is heavily influenced by Eerf Evil’s Christian beliefs, showing that when you find Christ, you can cleanse your lifestyle no matter your imperfections. No better track conveys this than ‘Cognitive Elevation’, as Eerf delves in to a murky past but offers a brighter future. ‘Pigeons & Doves’ sees Eerf Evil deliver metaphorical rhymes on a thumping Hip Hop beat, produced by Snider Lee, laden with melodious humming and plucky acoustic guitar strings. Once again Eerf reflects on his life and how he feels the love of God even though it may never be clear to see. Eerf explores how we measure wealth by money and materialistic things in a capitalist world. Another production by Snider Lee, this time a fusion of trap, a bass-laden beat and relaxing jazz vibes. Eerf takes you on an imaginative journey on ‘Venus’, rhyming over a slapping boom bap beat with dreamy, floaty sampled background vocals, as he wonders what it would be like if we were void of gravity, taking us up past the clouds, perhaps in to space. A rather quirky chorus from Eerf on this tune. Eerf continues his perceptions of our goals in life, on ‘ABUV’, he questions what makes us happy, whilst expressing his belief that love can simplicity can be found in the Bible, where you can find love and messages leading to a brighter outlook on life. Eerf spits head-bopping flows over this feel good production. The sixth track ‘Versatile’, ending the EP, depicts Eerf’s versatility and his uniqueness as a person and as a rapper with the subject matter rhymes, emphasizing that he intends on spreading a positive message through his music. The production from AMR Beats and Snider Lee is very much rooted in old school vintage Hip Hop, with raw hard hitting beats and soulful melodies, the EP has a positive vibe that is often uplifting. Eerf Evil’s lyricism can often be metaphorical, but is definitely influenced by his Christianity and his own perspective, which turn is staying true to a Hip Hop culture that was supposed to uplift.
