50 Carrots Trap alias BLNT releases a re-working of a Future track entitled ‘SHIT’. BLNT samples a recent rap song, chopping and screwing the vocals, cutting back exerts from the track into his trippy intricately melodic production. The plinky piano’s make the track a little haunting in fact, with subtle rising strings, a delicate sampled children’s choir used in the background add to the musical madness. The percussion is trap style, with a hint of rap, thudding, rolling drums deployed in abstract rhythmic pattern. The bass is minimal, but that works a treat with the many layers used here. It’s on tracks like “Shit” that BLNT’s hip hop influences really shine through and his music becomes incredibly versatile with the sampling and song structure on display.
