Ghetto – Momentum 2 [The Return Of Ghetto]
Ghetto, aka Ghetts, aka Justin Clarke, returns with a brand new mixtape and follow up to the Momentum, Momentum 2 (The Return Of Ghetto), which marks the return of him. After returning with this side of his personality on the Fire In The Booth Cypher a couple of months ago, Ghetto, the more aggressive side of J Clarke serves up an 18-track mixtape which features the likes of Devlin, Wretch 32, Griminal and many more. Ghetto brings the dark vibes with his lyricism which is more hard-edged than ever, whilst he is lyrically advanced to before, and from the opening track ‘Tarantula’, a bloody, murderous lyrical warfare, he sets the tone for the aggressiveness and deadly lyrical content to come. In tracks like ‘Ryder’ featuring Kyze and ‘Who Said Dat’ featuring Giggs, he had street lyricism and headshot bars, ‘Light Up’ featuring Rawz Artilla and J2k, in which the trio display no emotion in taking another mans girl, nothing towards women in that they put business first, and only out for a quick bit of fun. Ghetto focuses on relationships with girls on ‘Spragga Benz’ featuring Mercston, both spitting about ex’s, moving on swiftly like it’s nothing, moving up and advancing to better things. Both go in with the flow, Mercston impressing with the skippy flow.
The pace is slowed down on ‘Froggy’, Dapz On The Map featuring Ghetto and Devlin, in which Ghetto spits about the change of friends through the years, and talking about the consistance which is hard to maintain, reminiscing on fellow friends in the scene who have disappeared, whilst Devlin rhymes about the doubt in his ability because of his race, dealing with comparisons towards Slim Shady. Dapz lays down amazing vocals, dark but peaceful on the Hip Hop beat which has dark undertone in the melody. The vibes start to get more fun with ‘James Brown’ featuring Wretch 32, a funky Hip Hop track which samples the godfather of soul himself, both running the track with excellent, top-notch flow and delivery, Ghetto and Wretch 32 bouncing off each other with the vibes, excellent flow and delivery, going in with the bad boy lyricism and wordplay in abundance. ‘Speed Demon’ remixes the King of Pop’s ‘Speed Demon’ and features Lights, Calibar and Mercston on another funky production, all four killing it with lyricism aabout their businesses, seemingly moving at speed, handling their business and getting monies. The mixtape finishes up though with a Hip Hop track, a boom bap style beat, quite soulful, and features Young Teflon. Entitled ’80’s Swag’, both Ghetto and Teflon jump on the old school type production, rhyming about teaching the new school the tricks of the trade, Youngs Teflon rhyming about getting respect from the streets, and Ghetto portraying himself as a man that any lady would want, and shedding light on his lifestyle, from hitting studio, goes deep with the lyricism, speaking on violence that he has observed, ultimately coming to the conclusion that it is senseless.
‘Momentum 2 (The Return Of Ghetto)’ seems like Ghetts has rolled all three of his personalities in to one on this mixtape, whilst the aggressiveness is there on many of the early tracks, the lyricism hard-edged and gully, some of the tracks late on take a more lighter tone, with the lyricism becoming a bit more thoughtful, especially on tracks like ‘Redemption’ and ’80’s Swag’. Ghetto gets political with some of his lyricism, which makes Ghetto even more dangerous with the lyricism, rather than just a loose cannon, he is more deep with it. Ghetto, Ghetts and Justin Clarke in one is a disaster! Grab your copy of the mixtape below and leave us your feedback in the comments section below . . .
