Nottingham MC’s Hectic and JR return with a brand new joint EP ‘It’s About Time’. The EP features 5 Hip Hop bangers, with production by Silins Beats, Taylor King, Parabellum Beats, CanisMajor and Weezy Brown. Included is the funky Trap banger ‘Whole New Levels’ on which Hectic and JR rhyme about taking it to a whole other level, whether it’s making money, the class of women they link or music. This one features a hot hook in my opinion, and displays Hectic’s song writing skills. ‘In The Whip’ features ultra Trap production from Silins Beats, with Hectic and JR showing how they cruise in the whip, drinking Hennessey and admiring the ladies that they pick up, with JR not forgetting to mention banging music in the whip. Both execute the stuttering Trap flows excellently. ‘XXX’ is song aimed at the ladies, which showcases lyrics from Hectic and JR who both rhyme about the women that are down for dirty sexual encounters, and Hectic and JR deliver laid back flows, obviously in to the whole scenario. ‘Still Waiting Here’ is a love song dealing with the addiction towards a lady, with things going from bad to worse, wondering why they are still sticking around in a non-progressive relationship filled with lies. JR’s flow in particular is impressive, switching up his flow with the simultaneous switch of the beat. The last track called ‘Don’t Need You’ is another track that conveys Hectic and JR’s emotions in love situations, with Hectic giving his own advice on women, emphasizing that stress that women bring in to your life, whilst JR rhymes about those women who mess up your whole dating cycle, setting you back in trusting others. The hook features smooth singing vocals as well as sung bridge in the song, adding some R&B vibes to the track. Hectic and JR serve up a quality EP that gets their points across in five tracks, and both further prove that they are two of the best lyricists from Nottingham when it comes to subject matter, this project in particular having a running theme of women, whether it be relationships or having fun.
