Introducing Radge Tank, hailing from Newcastle, formed in 2012, consisting of Rizlasounds, RDNY & IKY. The formation came about when Rizlasounds began to collaborate with RDNY & IKY, and they eventually worked on various projects, setting out to create a unique sound, starting with their first release “April Fools” EP.

The “April Fools” EP consisted of nine tracks, all produced by Rizlasounds. The Alternative Hip Hop production varies, from ‘Restin’ Piece’, featuring up-tempo Latin percussion to ‘Only Love’, a Soulful Boom-Bap style Hip Hop beat that rolls back the years to the Golden Era, this release celebrates the Hip Hop culture. The trio display intelligible lyricism and great wordplay, conscious rhymes and story telling. ‘My Money, My Emotions’ is a fun an rhythmic Hip Hop tune, which kicks off with a sample taken from Friday. The trio of Geordie emcee’s proceed to deliver rowdy bars over a slamming Hip Hop beat, the type you may cruise to whilst pumping the hydraulics (that’s if you were on the West Coast of the US!). They kick wicked flows and spitting ludicrous bars that not only emphasizes that emotions run high where money is involved, but also their misogynistic attitudes towards women.

Rizlasounds himself has also recently released his own project, “Fumar Mata”, which translates in to Smoking Kills. The production on the project is very bass-orientated, ‘Better Than You Think’ being the more trapesque of the collection of songs. The ambience of tracks like ‘Time Out’ and ‘WHY?’ provide a great vibe on the debut offering from Rizlasounds, as the whole project is based around the theme of smoking and drinking.

2014 was a success for Radge Tank, having gained BBC radio plays and blog mentions. Their next step was to bring Mike under the umbrella and to develop Radge Tank as a brand through every possible medium. Radge Tank has now expanded as a collective of artists, producers, directors, software and application developers, managers, fashion designers, photographers and songwriters. With their unique sound in music, innovative creativeness and ideology in the way of branding, not to mention having a trick-of-all-trades collective, this indie collective might just be the future of independent music, and may be on the verge of further and bigger exposure in the scene.
