It’s all been leading up to this, the biggest of waves for South London Grime MC and W.A.V.E artist Jack Fitz. Jack Fitz releases the ‘Seizure’ EP, including the title track and ‘Jedi Boi’, the former a lashing dubstep production, and the latter is also a hard kicking grime beat. Tracks like these two re-iterate Jack’s return to producing music, and he showcases his barring skills on numerous tracks on this project, taking it as an opportunity to shell some futuristic grimy beats, some laden with futuristic synths and kicking, lashing drum kicks. He also take sit upon himself to boast of his skills by humiliating rival mc’s that in comparison are weaker, and even on ‘Jedi Boi’, there is a strong emphasis on Grime being a way of life for Jack, and he does showcase extensive knowledge and passion for the scene from early. To point out a couple of unique tracks that I’ve heard for the first time, ‘Spaceman’ features incredible production, transitioning from a spacey, mesmerising melody to some game-like synths, but with relentless claps and a thumping beat. Jack states on the chorus that he feels like he is in space, a metaphor resembling the fact that he is in another league to the competition. The other track is ‘Just Do It’, a grizzly yet heavy bouncing grime production on which Jack sprays rapid bars, looking back at his life which he admits hasn’t been the best, yet the music will always be his number one thing I suppose, but Jack Fitz pleads on the chorus to just let him live the life he leads, making the best of what he has.
This EP showcases Jack Fit’z barring abilities, and re-introduces him with a bang. Pure grime vibes from this with some grimy production. There are a couple of tracks as pointed out that see Jack stray away from straight barring, with some thoughtful and personal lyrics, as evident on ‘Just Do It’.
